classic problem of changed injector pump belt (yeah you know its coming)belt fitted was same type as the one removed. set back to 35 teeth between marks and she starts no problem. Only fault is now its kicking out clouds of deisel smoke when you hit the accelerator (no smoke when cruising). tried adjusting the pump the few degrees of movement you get but it either stalls out when you engage a gear and/ or turn full lock or if you rotate the pump back the other way i get dreaded deisel clatter. Wife wasn,t happy as she washed the bus and now the back end is now black and sooty. Turbo is spooling up nicely and im scratching my head. Managed to code read the ecm and (wife bless her, forgot to tell me the MIL was flashing)got codes 18, 21, 47!!!!!
Mods: private plate, lowered 35mm, custom bump stops, 20" rims, Full stainless exhaust with decat, 1000w rms ICE, ICELED underlighting kit with EXP kit and Scanner, red and green starburst laser, custom door illumination, custom illuminated insane grill badge, dual battery with split charger n more
thanks for reply, looking at the codes then it would appear that my pump timing is FUBAR, and the injector solenoid pulse doesnt match the crank signal. Presume that this would cause an overfuel situation if there is lag between the injector solenoid pulse and crank signal. anyone have a guide to fine tuning these pumps or is it just blind luck????
I personally haven't come across a fine tuning guide. Only guide I've seen seems to suggest the same as what you've done, moving the pump slightly until she sounds ok.
Could it be a cheap belt? Stretching and flexing too much?
You certainly sound like you know your stuff.
Oh and before doing that I would get some contact cleaner and unplug and spray all connectors! Then after plugging them all back in a nice coat of silicon spray to protect. Worked on many a car for me.
Life is like a S**T sandwich the more bread you got the less S**T you gotta eat.

spent a long time with my head under bonnets and stuck in Aircraft intakes/engines. give me a turbo fan engine and 23000lbs of thrust no probs, but a largo diesel!!!! back in the stone age again.
Seen the RB25DET largo but wondered if anyone knows of any different engine transplants that have worked in the largo. been toying with the idea of a BMW diesel engine swap????
