Hello!
Hi everyone
I am a newbie and off to Cardiff tomorrow to look at 1996 largo...
Just wanted to get your opinion in whether you think it sounds like a good buy as if I'm honest I'm worried about the age! 1996 is rather old... It's got 67,000 miles on clock and is 2.4 petrol, years MOT and 6 months tax.
No rust as far as I can see from photos and had service before MOT where there checked over to ensure mechanically sound and any work that needed to be done was done.. I.e new wipers, oil change etc etc
The condition of the body is lovely with the odd tiny dink which can be expected from any vehicle of this age.
The only mechanical glitch is the speedometer is sometimes temperamental and has had the anti roll bars replaced and had new oil sump plugs and and core plugs fitted as well as the steering belt replaced recently after having an oil and filter change service etc.
The cam belt has not been changed as far as we know.
Interior looks very good
We want to buy to transport kids and obviously was a safe and reliable car!!
Seller asking £2400....
I would really appreciate your thoughts?! and if this is a fair price or what we should offer?
Thanks in advance
Claire

Re: Hello!
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Petrol largo has timing chain not belt
Sounds about thew right price to me depending on condition. Look out for exhaust rattles and any other knocks/noises.
1996 isn't old lol mines a 96 and has gone straight through 5 MOT's without touching it.
As with any car purchase its always best to drive before you buy.

Re: Hello!
Hi and welcome along,
I have had both diesel and petrol, i find the petrol less hassle and quicker but only a marginal couple miles less to the gallon, so as for the age and money it is about there. I run a 1996 2.4 petrol, they all hold age well if had good owners prior to who sells it, but make sure when the last set of belts were done and drive it first as nrg has stated, also listen for any rattles and knocks, but it is a noisy engine on diesels to petrol, so have someone else listen with you, try the heater in front and rear as well as the air-con, just a few bits to be wary of to save later expenses.no flashing lights on the dash, also if the speedo is playing up a sensor may be needed and is roughly 100 quid so if you unsure get the person or garage to be aware of this and get the price plus a fitting fee knocked off , worth a go, Good luck, and hope you have a pleasant journey.

Can you send some pictures to me of yours?! Claire.stacey@aol.co.uk
What's the service history like and does it have MOT and tax? etc etc
I am just so worried about buying a 1996 reg and all the friends and family I've spoken to say the mileage sounds dodgy St 67,000 as would have expected a lot more for a car that age...... /
