Hi, I recently purchased my first Nissan Largo and love it, however
I require a new spare key. The car only came with one key and the key is a bit bend so are worried it may snap any day. We went to a locksmith who cut a new key but it doesn't have the central locking bit. he recommended we get a key shell from someone then he can insert the remote mechanism code.
Any idea where I can obtain a key shell from?
Also he mentioned there is no immobilser with the car,key and is surprised it hasn't failed MOT. This is the first I heard of this being a requirement for MOT. Is this true and if so what would you recommend to get imobiliser.
Thanks in advance

You certainly don't need an immobiliser for an mot, you could try the nissan dealer for a key shell but I suspect it might be discontinued...worth a try though.

Re: new owner need new key
i looked everywhere for a new 2 button largo key with no luck closest i cam was a few yank nissans but still ended up fitting an aftermarket central locking unit with a fob. this was not the way i wanted to go as i liked the single key with the locking buttons. however its much nicer to lock and unlock the bus from 100 yards rather than right by the drivers window. Also now i have flashing indicator lights to confirm she is locked

i can well believe this because when my father lost the keys to are primastar van (works van) insane wanted 90.00 for the key and 50.00 to program it. would have been nice if they had offered to lube it before shoving it in if you know what i mean.....N.r.g wrote:Price of a new keyfob from Nissan stealers you can have a central locking system fitted.
