rev counter bouncing

Post by alunian »

Hi
my friend has a 1999, 2.4 auto Highway Star and when it starts up the rev counter sweeps into the red and bounces (engine sounds normal) once the engine warms up the needle calms down a bit, but then when he pulls away it starts bouncing into the red again. Any ideas?

thanks in advance.
