New with stalling problem. Help!

Post by neilloop »

Hi.
Based in Leeds. Got a 1996 SXG Limited complete with original curtains! Having ongoing problem with stalling. Had the Largo about 4 months and done the usual. Full sevice inc oils and filters but surches when in drive with foot on the brake say at lights. Stalls easily in reverse with a lock on and sometimes going forwards. Close control a little tricky. Really want to sort it out as its in great condition. Any suggestions. Changed throttle, cleaned air pipe to engine manifold. #think there is a gearbox fault could this cause stalling? Any suggestions on diagnostic for engine and gearbox.
Thanks

There's procedures for both engine and gearbox codes. Use the search facility at top right of page ;)
What colour is gearbox oil and level ?

Hi. Gear box oil colour and level fine as far as i can tell. What should levels read on stick? Check light flashing on gearbox & dash.
Bus seems to stall when steering is on a full lock and in D or R. Surges when in D and foot on brake and needle bobs up and down. Stalls and checklight comes on.

Diagnostic code read ecu. It's easy. See what codes it throws up.

Paper clip will do. I've used a staple before lol. So yeah anything conductive will work.

Followed the procedure as per thread and cant seem to get the check light to flash even to say all ok. Has anyone got some advice? Used a paper clip. Very frustrating. Gearbox light flashes 1 long flash then 16 short flashes on start up. Do you know what this means. Run a gearbox diagnostic and came back clear!

Bad connection on gearbox somewhere or intermittent fault. Main ecu you have to do it right or you get nothing.
If you do it right engine light should flash. What year you got ?
