Hello one and all,I have just joined after only coming across this site by accident,anyhow I have owned my SX-G for around five years and have been pretty happy with it apart from it being a bit underpowered on hills and there are plenty of these in Devon where I live so I am seriously thinking of changing to a 2.4 petrol as from what research I've done once difference in fuel prices are taken into account there seems very little difference in running costs,pluss the petrol I believe has a cam chain rather than a belt and by all accounts are pretty near bullet proof,no doubt other members can hopefuly endorse this for me.If I do change then my diesel will be up for sale.
What I really like about the Largo's is the room I have three dogs two setters and a terrier and can keep a large dog cage in the back and still seat four adults pluss the driving position realy suits me as I have as result of injury a spinal problem,also being higher than the run of the mill car one can see more of the countryside and the road ahead,why people move to a beautiful part of the country a bomb around in sports cars defeats me as all they see are the verges either side of the strip of tarmacadam(I am using artistic licence here as the current state of a lot of roads make me wonder if any was ever laid).We have toured england and scotland in ours and again find the driving position a bonus and to remove the middle row of seats is only ten minutes work when I have neede to carry a motorcycle in the back so a versatile vehicle.
Previously we had a Delica but the fuel consumption could be very heavy around 18-20 at motoway speeds and well below this if towing so i was looking for a replacement when I tried a Largo and have never regretted the choice.
My other interests are motorcyling,shooting and other country persuits which now I'm retired I should have more time for if any other owners can offer tips and advice or just want a chat if in my area then let me know and I will get the kettle on.

i'll stick with my diesel.i can get fuel for 90p a litre at the mo,its just a shame i can only get about 28mpg around the doors and 33-35 on a run

I have owned my Largo 2.4 petrol for around 6 months now and it is great except the fuel consumption is poor and i drive it carefully. Even on a run at a steady 60mph it isnt great. A tenner of fuel gets me about 28 - 30 miles only and on a run i get 40 miles. Not sure exactly what that equates to in miles per gallon but i reckon around 18 around town and 24 on a run!
Is that reasonable or about right.

That's about right m8 exactly what I get. If it was less there would be a problem, usually the knock sensor.

30 miles is about 17-18 mpg if you pay £1.30 a litre and 23-24 on a run.i get about 28 mpg round the town and about 33-35 on a run sitting at 60-70 in my diesel

sounds about right my father just bought a 2.4 petrol it a 98 Highway Star he gets around 35-40mpg on a run cruising at 55-60mph with the OD on
