Hi all thanks for all your sugestions....finaly taken starter off (and hitting it with large hammer and lump of wood did nothing lol... )the solonoid was working and and had 12v feed!!! 'done ortopsy and starter is dead' hoping new 1 might solve all my problems including the starting issue...apparently(so i've been told) the engine needs to turn over at a sertain speed before it will fire on a diesel. hence why it wont fire at first but will as it gets faster....lets hope new starter kills 2 birds with 1 stone

If you were constantly spinning over for 45 seconds plus every time to start it then the starter motor ain't gonna do that for a long period. I would change starter first then move on from there if you still got problems after that post again! I personally find it hard to trust any garage.

Hi thanks everyone for your advise had bushes replaced in starter(cost £45.) and car starts like a dream straight away!!! Fantastic worth noting if you own a diesel largo that takes ages to start your starter motor is more than likely on it's wY out !! well pleased thanks again for everyone's advise !!!!
