Hi everyone, had a highway star for 3 years now, it's a 2.0l diesel, auto , 96 and a reliable vehicle, the kids love it,especially when we go camping. Apart from the usual things like tyres, exhaust, MOT times have been relatively
Inexpensive. I have a problem now and before I go an invest in a diesel pump, I wondered if anyone had gone through the same exercise.
The problem- when I engage reverse gear the engine stalls, seems to be worse when hot and under load, (lights on, turning wheel). I have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the egr port with no joy. Invested in a Nissan diagnostic interface (£10 from eBay) and managed to get the fault code using ECU talk. The code is 81 - F/INJ F/B which I understand is fuel injection. This is looking like the high pressure fuel pump is on it's way out as it's intermittent.
Before I change it, has anyone been here and can give me any more info
Regards
Ian

Re: Hi from grantham
hi ian and welcome,
you could try your ecg valve,
a good few of us have taken this of cleaned it and had a good improvement,
it is located under passanger seat,
you will see a little oval shped plate held on by 2 x 10 mm nuts,
praize of carefully and pull outwards
clean this tube out and refit you should notice a good bit of differance,
refit and maybe use a little gasket sealer to reseal,
woody
