yes,tell me about it.annoyed, but happy it is going again.Was still cheaper than getting another.It got me that the cpu never came up with a fault,it was quite happy.Mechanic 'thinks' something happened between cpu & mass airflow meter,& for some reason never went again,till parts were changed,even he was scratching his head and he said he has worked on a No. of largo's.Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

hi a bit late in this respose but it may of been that the ecu had learnt to run on the faulty air mass, when swopping ecu (power disconnected) all faulty data will be lost.
fitting new air mass on old ecu may not of worked due to data stored in ecu.
this happens on some makes ie ford fiesta i had last week had faulty idle air control valve replaced valve still would not rev smoothly i disconnected battery terminals and carried out system restore.( battery terminals removed from battery and placed togeather away from battery for 20 seconds to discahrge system.) them refitted terminals and car ran great..
just a thought i would be tempted to try old ecu just to satisfy my curiosity
