New member needing help!!
Hi all,
I've registered on here to help a friend of mine who has a 1996 2.0 diesel automatic Largo. The problem he has is the engine cutting out when coming to a stop and the engine should ordinarily idle. I have a fair bit of petrol engine knowledge but a limited understanding of diesels. So far what I've checked is whether or not the problem happens from a cold engine or not, which I'm of the view currently that engine operating temperature isn't the issue. I've also done the magic tub of redex and cleaned the inlet pipe & actuator but the problem is still present. My current guess is potentially the fuel filter may be the problem, but I'm open to the experience of others here. So if people think I'm on the right track can someone advise of fileter location as having a quick look around I couldn't see it, also are there issues with bleeding the system or not when changing a filter??
Another question I have which may be linked to this problem is when engaging drive from neutral the engine goes from a tcikover of say 800-850 to a more laboured 600-650, is this normal??? if not how & where is the idle control pot or whatever the correct terminology is for this operation.
Awaiting the wisdom of others!!!
Cheers Jamie
