First time owner and picking the girl up on Thursday 95Km.

Can anyone give me an idea of what MPG to expect and any known faults to look out for.

Much appreciated.

19-30 mpg. Look for rust under the rear corners and where the floor joins the rear cross-member. Make sure it doesn't stall when put into reverse at the same time as steering suddenly.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info.

I was hoping for a bit more MPG as I seen somewhere they can do around 40mpg.

What is the problem if it does stall in reverse while steering?

I'm averaging around the 20-25 make MPG wise, that's in a 2wd TD, I'm sure on a longer run I could see early 30s. Van is going in for a Terraclean session next month so we'll see what difference that makes :)

Maybe if you drove like a granny with a tailwind downhill you'd get 40 mpg :)

The stalling issue indicates a problem with the fuel injection system - some members here have spent a fortune on reconditioning injection pumps without fixing it.

Mine had/has it. I think it's the quantity adjuster spindle wearing where it engages the control sleeve. I found metal swarf in the pump's advance solenoid from somewhere. A resistor mod has largely fixed it but I get the impression it's just delaying the inevitable pump swap out (I've got a spare injection pump, but that's not to say that one doesn't have the same issue).

It doesn't stall when reversing thank god.. However, it does have a few niggles. Bad vibration when power on around 50-60 and exhaust seems to be chuffing like a light spitting.
So I got to check these out, vibration most annoying, the exhaust might be worrying as someone tied foil around it with wire just under sliding door.

I need someone who knows these to maybe give it the once over and give some advice.

All being well I'm going to drive it to Ukraine next year.
