New owner saying Hello :)

Just to say Hi, I've just put down a deposit on a rather sorry looking '95-ish Largo SX-G & should be collecting on Tuesday sometime :) No doubt there'll be more issues than just the tatty bodywork & crumpled nearside front wing that I'll have to contend with, but for the moment I'll just have a look round the site & sort the wing out when she arrives, then get back to you when the inevitable problems start that are bound to come with a £200 Largo lol :)
Cheers, Dan.

Cheers :) I honestly can't remember now haha it was either 160-odd or 180-odd thousand... (EDIT-: hang on a mo... it's a JDM so it'll be in kilometres too wahey it's only done .625 of the work I thought it had!) I don't know if the 2.8 engine is prone to overheating issues at all but the coolant did seem a bit low, although the header tank smelt clean & the oil was spot on & no condensation on the filler cap so I'm winging it that it's ok HG-wise :S

It's cheap enough that if it turns out to be a wrongun I'll break it and not lose out with any luck, but I want to give the old girl a fair crack of the whip first... The job list so far is, top up coolant, adjust/replace o/s/f wheel bearing, check discs/pads, secure spare wheel in a better fashion than a rag & warning triangle jammed in the carrier (or remove it), "adjust" the front wing to remove any sharp edges & give it a general once over before a quick run to the local friendly MoT centre to see what they reckon :)

EDIT-: OK so a vehicle enquiry shows it's registered as a 2.0 yet it's being sold by the salvage yard as a 2.8... I shall have to have words in their ear the cheeky bast**ds lol I thought I was buying into an LD28T violin Actually it sounded like a 6 cyl so maybe its been swapped, anyone done that before?

it can only be a 2.0 ltr diesel or 2.4 petrol or as you say engine swapped

Hmm, will have to look into that. I'm not too worried considering the price but if I can squeeze them for a 10 spot for their error I'll be more than happy :) Oh and just looked at my receipt it's showing 129,464 so about 81k if it's not been "chipped" :)
Will update on the engine situation & if any issues materialise when it arrives but I think it will be an LD20T as I've seen pics on here of under the passenger seat & all the VSV's and intake manifold look the same.

Ah right, would that equate to the difference between cable or fly-by wire? mine has the electric heat button, so fly by wire? which one have I got? cheers :)

Do you remember if it had a timing cover at the back of the engine?

I think most likely CD20ETi with Zexel version of the VP37 style fuel pump if it has the heat button. Indirect Injection and rotary pump, fine for veg.

I honestly can't recall, it was in a warehouse and not too much light so just had the seat up & oil filler plate off to check for any emulsion in the cap. From how tight/seized the wingnut & oil filler cap were & how the oil was spot on the top mark I'd say it's not using any oil at least haha & my guess on the low coolant was someone else was looking round & opened the rad cap draining the header tank, as it was only low on the header.
I think you'll be right as to the pump, they're basically a bosch pump aren't they? so the dizzy head would be lubricated by oil and good for running SVO/WVO? (killed off a shitty lucas pump on a pug XUD once as they rely on dino diesel's lubricity to keep the head lubed, and the dizzy seized & took out the pump shaft) Was a bit worried about that when I realised it was going to be electronic but as long as I keep a few spare filters on board during the changeover (I've found going to veg tends to clean all the crap out & block filters in short order for the first couple of hundred miles) then should be OK...

That said, I might run dino for a while whilst I get familiarised with the bus & any quirks/faults that it may (will!) have, just for reference. Look at me talking like the damn things on my drive already haha, got to get it back here checked over more thoroughly & prepped for MoT yet! :D Will have to look in sales area see if anyone has a left front wing & headlamp...
