Hello.
I am looking to purchase a Nissan Largo 1996 model but the seller has just told me that the Gearbox sensor has packed in, he says it will cost £20.00 from a scrappers to sort out. Any thoughts on me taking the plunge or am I going to be buying a moneypit???
Thanks,

The seller thinks its the speed sensor!!
Ive tried looking for 1 but am unable to source the part so dont really want to purchase the vehicle and be stuck with a lemon, he said that the vehicle drives fine so am wondering what effects a failed sensor would have on the vehicle??

Ah so I'm guessing Speedo doesn't work .
Search forum for gearbox diagnostic and you will find a way to read the codes stored on the gearbox ecu. This will tell you exactly what's wrong .
I wouldn't but broken unless price was right . Parts are always available on eBay as there's a few breaking on there.

Thanks, the seller wants £995 for a N reg, no tax, no MOT and after speaking with him today he said that theres a sensor on the manifold that needs cleaning and that the speedo used to work intermttently, then only worked at around 40mph and has now stopped working completely, he also said that the gearbox changes fine up til 4th then when you continue to drive it kicks down and cannot seem to find the right high gear but it only happens when on a motorway run and not every time.
The interior and exterior are mint and the price does seem fair as hte vehicle has only done 400 miles since its last MOT according to the seller but if the speedo isnt working right I assume the odometer ist reading right and clocking on the miles!!
My hearts saying take a gamble as I need this type of transport for work but my heads saying steer well clear....
Thanks for your advice.
