Ahh, brilliant. Mate I used to work for came through with his skip wagon & wouldn't take any cash either in the end!
winner! Did look a bit strange though, they must have thought I was scrapping it! Well we're home now & I've stuck a good battery in, given the engine a good run up to temperature, put it through D-N-R-N-D, lock to lock on the steering and managed to make it stall 3 times total, 2 when cold & once just as I was thinking it wasn't going to do it hot! Ahh well.
Very happy with her so far, lots of work to do before MoT (tony, you're correct no T&T but fortunately it's a cat D write off so no VIC needed). Also there's a fair bit of oil round the "A" plate so that's coming out & getting a clean & new gasket shortly. Anyway here's the first couple of pics of "the lardarse" as someone called it! What you all think, worth 2 ton for a diesel 4x4 SXG tintop with all but one set of rear seats missing?

I think you're onto a winner there, new light and wing and a scrub up and she'll look great.
Did you air separator A plate have a gasket behind it? Maybe just not tightened up enough.

Cheers fellas, I think the roofbars will be staying as I'm not sure but think they may be drilled into the roof! :S I'll put a pic up of the mounting.
I've pulled the grille, airbox & bonnet to improve access and managed a good evenings works getting the old wing, infill panel & headlamp out, pulling the inner wing & slam panel roughly back in line (pretty much matches the offside now & headlamp slots in nicely so should be OK) and tomorrow is the day for tidying up the job & giving it a good coat of primer & underseal. All went fairly well except the lowest wing bolt snapped (thought it would when the head was rusted down to a 9mm haha!) and the fact that I didn't realise the infill panel was that far gone. But I'll take a hit on that for the bonus of it being 4x4 & everything working including the telescopic parking beacon on the bumper! Anyway heres a few pics...

Oops forgot to put the roof bar pic on with them... here it is. And as a further bonus, I found the rear aircon remote in it's slot! oh and it's a soft close door... winning!

Stuck in already I see
How is the metal beneath the wing? Survive the impact?

lol yeh couldn't help myself! the inner wing was a bit mangled & it'd pulled the slam panel down but it's come back into shape nicely and tomorrow I shall be putting the wing itself on the lawn & jumping up & down on it like a madman to see if I can't make it at least refittable & passable for MoT in case a decent replacement in the right colour doesn't show up... To be fair I'd put up with a small dent or a frilly arch if someone had one they were throwing out in the same colour.

lol @ airarsole, that's what I get when I eat chips cheese & beans!
Well the wing's bashed into a shape that's acceptable for the moment, will be ok with a skim of filler when we get a dry day, till I get a replacement lined up of course... Just given the air separator a good clean (and what I could scoop out of the plenum too), it was ridiculously filthy. Also took a moment to disconnect the EGR for now. Might blank it at some point but I think it's sealed ok anyhow as the pipe didn't get warm when I ran the engine this time
Full speed ahead towards getting the headlight & tyres now and then off to the MoT man to see what the verdict is...
