I'd say definitely do the resistor mod before the hammer mod. if nothing else the resistor is easily reversible unlike the hammer mod (which can be impossible to put right if you go too far or hit the pump too hard). Also, when the pump is hot the threads are like chocolate. I only escaped my hammer exploits by virtue of my trusty tap & die set and bodgery of Royal Naval proportions lol (well, a couple of oversize bolts anyway)
The resistor mod is the most likely thing of the two to help IMO. My revs still bounce a little from dead cold but as long as the engine's run for 30 seconds or so it's fine.

okay my Nissan consult came yesterday and to my surprise it bloody worked came up with a ton of faults most ive reset same one keeps coming back straight away code 48 crank position sensor so gonna replace with genuine part from Nissan OUCH and report back when done could be my stalling issue and black smoke when it stalls wish me luck going in to do the job don't know when I will be coming back lol

I think if I was doing it I'd put the Largo up on ramps and take the undertray and fan off for access.

You may to take out drivers seat and panel to get at the plug,crank sensor will prob cause your fault,if you disconnect plug and still the same defo

okay so far I stripped the inside for the first time always left it to the garage to find my Nissan largo vw30 is running on a cd20 engine bit confusing but okay did a diagnostic test in the bus reset all faults except one crank position sensor spoke to garage and there saying this engine don't have a crank sensor at the bottom pully it might be in the pump had my hand down by the bottom pully 10 clock felt a nut but couldn't see fully to identify I also have a plug for the crank sensor to plug into so im a bit puddled please help need your experience in this matter as my bus is sitting in the garage building up a hefty bill

ok ive hit a small problem ive stripped out my bus ready to do injection pump belt and found my bus has had an engine change bought crank sensor for my largo with the vin number vw30 to find out I have a serena 20 tdi cd20 engine sitting in its place so my question is this is the crank sensor still in the same place my garage is saying it might be in the injection pump so im confused had a feel down by the bottom pully coukd not feel anything at 10 oclock but the plug for crank sensor is there so now my bus is sitting in garage running up a nice hefty bill again please help

I have a 1996 glass top and the motor I'm sure is a CD20, I acquired a 98 tin top for breaking but changed my mind and sold it on... now in the meantime I wanted a cps for my glass top I forgot my own Largo reg so used the tin tops reg to identify the part at Nissan, they told me the sensor was near the flywheel, this didn't sound right so I got my other reg and the correct part came (10 o'clock ish in the block at the front pulley area) I thought the CD20 motor was a straight forward fits everything motor but I'm as confused as you...

All the diesels are CD20T, same as the Primera and Serena. Just the bits around the outside change. I believe they all have the crank position sensor. The Largo also has a cam sensor built into the pump (which the Primera doesn't).

Cheers for that, don't want to take over this but I shall share my adventure so far... Largo started jolting when stopped at lights in drive, this seemed to progress to stalling in drive and then in neutral also, mainly when warm (starts perfect and ticks over from cold) fault code said tps (£500 odd quid from Nissan) so for a punt I did the cps (£80 quid) no different so I searched web and found a tps complete used with identical part numbers, no different.. fitted 470 ohm resistor felt better just done a trip round Devon and its stalling when warm again... fitted 200 ohm resistor and still feels better but still stalls, typically when doing 70 mph for a bit then pull up at a junction, even dies if you drop it into neutral... Anyway onwards and upwards just thought I'd share this with you guys, this site is amazing and I still thing the Largo is a fantastic bus
