Scoobydo, I've just got around to taking the "bonnet" off - I can see the connector as pictured, resistor should be arriving with Mr Postman...
One thing: Where the cable tie is in the second picture. I've got a white wire that comes out of that loom goes to a grey connector - that's just below the tie - and then there's about 6" of the same colour wire that goes nowhere - just a bare end hanging down.
Can you help me out (again)

Where does the other end go? How many wires does the connector take? Near the rocker cover is a bracket that holds two connectors think one is the CTS the other might be the lead for injector one. Key is to see where the wire goes at the other end. Remember there are two coolant sensors one for the ecu one for the dash

The Mystery Wire *seems* to want to go to what looks like a temperature sensor just to the right of the pump - which is where it is now.
I've done the resistor mod & changed the filter, had a general potter and clean up. Appears to have worked, I've managed to get it to cut out in reverse just the one time - by really trying to many times, lots of electrics on and whirling the steering wheel around. There seems to be a dip in revs when engaging reverse with lock on sometimes, but doesn't cut out apart from that one time. Backs up onto the drive, just fine.

Put a different different resistor in if it bothers you. Take another picture of where it goes to. Obviously you need to find where the splice is

to the right of the pump is the oil pressure switch. Does your oil light come on when you have the IGN switched on as maybe someone removed the lamp hence you dont know you actually have an oil light on

Ah... So that's the oil pressure switch. Lamp works fine, comes on - goes off straight away. Perhaps it wasn't working before and I just didn't notice. One more thing done anyways.
A different resistor? Do you know which way I would need to go with the resistor value? Frankly, I can't see it being a bother and it'll probably improve as I get more servicing jobs done - the air filter is manky... But since we've gone from happens when I reverse, to happens only when I challenge it, to now: Rarely ever happens *at all* I'm pretty happy with it.
Started on the tidy up. Re-spraying the wiper arms, stripping the cracked plastic off the window bottoms and painting that too. Paintwork's really good for the year - just a few chips and dings, so it should come up looking very nice.

You could try 300 ohms or maybe even a pot to find the sweetspot. Obviously mark calibrate it with marks set at 470 that gives you your current results to say 200 ohms so not doing it blind. Once found then you can purchase the "correct" one.
Dont know what you have done with the wire should be obvious if it was the oil pressure switch
