looking for experts near Poole D orset.

Post by oldpooley »

Hi I have just purchased a 1964 imported Nissan Largo 2.0l diesel for my two grandsons who are visiting from Australia for the summer. They won't be here till April and there are some issues I want to sort out in the next 2 months so they will have a stress free holiday. Can anyone recommend someone in the Poole area who can undertake work on the largo.
I drove it back from Redruth in Cornwall on Monday and it went along ok for an old car (It's done 130,000km) but on startup on Tuesday it kicked out a load of smoke and then stalled. Then it took quite a while to start again so I really need an expert to sort out all the little problems. The handbook I got with the vehicle is not much use for anything mechanical so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi welcome along, before you go putting it in a garage its cold out now so you have to do the usual diesel thing wait for the plug warning light to go out, then start, then once its started hit the heat button to the lower left of the steering wheel(like a choke hold engine revs up until engine is warm)

The smoke could have just been from where its stood and there's moisture in the exhaust
Life a BITCH!!!
Then you get a LARGO!!!

Thanks very much for your tips.I will do as you say when the weather warms up but I will still be looking for a proper mechanic to give me a proper service and an all round tune up.I'm not worried about time yet as the boys won't be here until April.

Any owners in the Poole area who wouldn't mind sharing a few general Largo tips? I'd be quite happy to travel to get any suitable info that I can use and pass on to my grandsons as to keeping the car up to scratch.
