Introduce Myself & Please Help re Stalling Problem
Hi Everyone. My name is Paul and I have had my Largo since February 2013. I love the vehicle and am in the process of ironing out a few teething problems. I presume these are why the previous owner disposed of the vehicle.
The model is a 2.0 litre diesel SX-G automatic.
I had no idea when it was last serviced so got a mate of mine who is a mechanic to service the engine and tighten up belt etc
Problem one was a starting issue. This was the starter motor and I also put a stronger battery on which is meant for a diesel engine as opposed to the petrol version.. The engine now turns over much faster and starts well.
Problem two was the air con wasn't working. This was the filter situated by the radiator at the bottom of the engine compartment at the front of the vehicle.
Problem three (which wasn't there at first) but has now become an absolute pain is stalling the moment a load is put on the engine (even turning the steering wheel a small amount!)
Normal running along the road is great and she seems quite poky despite the engine/vehicle size ratio.
She finds it most amusing to stall at traffic lights and/or when turning right!! Another one is turning left out of my driveway onto a main road!!
At first the problem only existed when going into reverse from cold but is now all the time as above.
Sometimes the engine managment light flashes which sometimes goes on into the next engine start as well but does eventually go out.
I've read various thoughts and theories on this but any help would be very much appreciated.
It has got to the stage where I must find the fault as it is now difficult to take the vehicle in traffic.
Please help!!!

Crank position sensor.
Find the plug for it and run engine. Unplug and if it keeps running it needs a new one. If it stalls the sensor is ok and problem is probably fuel pump related.

Re: Introduce Myself & Please Help re Stalling Problem
Thanks to all those who replied with suggested solutions to my stalling problem.
I unplugged the crank position sensor and the engine changed tone a little but kept running.
This seems to imply it is this part that is at fault.
The stalling is now at a level where a lot of the time the car is almost undriveable.
My next challenge seems to be obtaining a sensor as all my normal methods of obtaining parts for other vehicles I have had e.g. sourcing breakers yards on the internet have not responded to me.
I guess this means they haven't got one.
Anyone got one or know a source?
Please help..............!!
Paul - a desperate but determined Largo owner.

No - I don't have the ability to code read it. Everyone seems to think it's the sensor but at the moment I can't find one anywhere.

Re: Introduce Myself & Please Help re Stalling Problem
Is there a realistically priced fault code reader for this vehicle or a means of getting the codes?
I still have not been able to source a crank position sensor. That's not quite true as local Nissan dealer can supply but they want £106 for one and I fainted!
